What is the situation currently in South Africa and Namibia?

During the past 3 months we have been enjoying relative normality in South Africa. All restaurants, shops, markets and schools are open. Beaches are emptier than before; sightseeing is made easier with no queues and few restaurants require reservations ahead of time! The incidence rate is at approx. 86, the mask requirement in public areas is still in place. We expect further relief in the coming days however currently we still have a curfew from 10pm to 4am. All restaurants have been abiding to this regulation.

South Africa might still be classified as a high-risk country, but most countries have done away with quarantine regulations, if travellers are fully vaccinated meaning no PCR Test is necessary when returning home, if you are unsure please contact us for up-to-date advice. For October – the start of our high season – we are experiencing an increase in bookings and flight connections to Cape Town. The government is planning to have approx. 70% of the population vaccinated by December.

In Namibia the situation is similar if not better:

The infection rate was high in July for a short time, but we are now seeing a clear improvement and reduction with the incidence rate currently at 40. Staff employed in lodges and hotels are enjoying preference and have been fully vaccinated with tourism being one if the main sources of income in this fascinating country.

The vastness and the sparse population suggest that tourism in Namibia will soon recover completely and the guests who have traveled with us over the past few weeks are just raving about this unique country! Again, for fully vaccinated clients from most countries quarantine is not necessary when returning home.
