No – around 80% of our guests travel through these countries as self-drivers with rental cars and are thrilled. Outside of major cities like Cape Town and Johannesburg, the traffic is significantly more relaxed than in Germany. Thanks to our close partnership with EUROPCAR, we can ensure that our guests receive modern vehicles in perfect condition. We always book a SUPER COVER package, so there are no hidden extra costs on site. We also prefer automatic vehicles, as these are much more comfortable and safer to drive on the left. For special requirements – such as 4x4 vehicles or campervans, for example, for a trip through Namibia – we work with experienced and suitable rental companies. For self-drive tours, we recommend always carrying an international driving permit in English.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer our guests in South Africa the insolvency insurance that is standard practice for tour operators in Germany. However, we are a member of the Southern Africa Tourism Services Association (SATSA) and are therefore committed to upholding the highest industry standards regarding credibility, financial stability, and integrity. These standards are regularly reviewed. SATSA also ensures that in the event of a member's insolvency, either the booked services are guaranteed to continue or – if this is not possible – a refund is issued to the customer. Further information about SATSA can be found at: www.satsa.co.za

We would be happy to advise you individually on this matter – depending on your destination and travel dates. Generally speaking, there is nothing special to consider when traveling to Namibia and South Africa, unless you are staying in a low-risk malaria area. In that case, we will of course inform you accordingly in advance.

Upon your arrival around 1:00–2:00 pm, you will typically enjoy a light lunch, followed by check-in, including a short safety briefing. After settling into your room, you will have time to freshen up before meeting your ranger for tea and coffee around 3:30 pm. The first game drive, lasting approximately 3–3.5 hours, departs around 4:00 pm. Dinner awaits you back at the lodge from approximately 7:30 pm. For safety reasons, guests are usually escorted to their rooms by the rangers after nightfall. Overnight stay at the lodge. The following morning, you will be woken early. After coffee, the morning game drive begins to watch the sunrise, usually around 6:00 am. This also lasts approximately 3–3.5 hours before you return to the lodge for a leisurely breakfast. Afterwards, you will have time to enjoy the lodge – whether with a good book, relaxing by the pool, taking a nap, or indulging in a massage. Some lodges offer a generous brunch as an alternative to breakfast around 10:00–11:00 am.
